Up Close In The Ozarks
It's been 3 months since my last update and it's been that long since it's rained at my house. The river is quite low and the creeks have all shriveled up to just a trickle. So the story this time is that there is no story to tell. No destination drive with something to see at the end and pictures to tell what we did along the way.
What Bill and I have been doing is just going out and having camera sessions. Going to any location and just trying to learn how to take better pictures. Bill is quite knowledgeable about the Nikon cameras we use and has been helping me to learn more about my own. I have moved from letting the camera do all the work in program mode to using the aperture mode and letting me select my own f-stop. I hope to move on soon to trying out manual mode. As a person who has always enjoyed the Ozark landscape I want my camera to document exactly what I see.

Bill on the other hand is quite different. He is a real photographer. He has taken the time to learn about the Nikon FX camera that he uses and also the lenses that he has purchased. He has studied the manuals and learned the capabilities of each. He is also an artist and has studied the art of taking pictures since he was a young man. Bill uses his camera as a means of expressing himself, his art.

This series of pictures covers 3 different times that we went out together. Each was a spot in the Erbie area, which we frequent quite a bit. It took some time to go through the more than 500 pictures that we had taken in these trips and to select the few that I thought represented the best ones. All of the close up pictures are Bill's. A few of the landscape pictures are his also, the rest are mine. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
As I write these last few paragraphs it has begun to rain. We are all dancing in the street because we have not had any rain in my neighborhood for 90 days. Hopefully all the wells and springs that the rural folk depend on will get recharged. I hope that the recent drought is coming to an end and that you get to see the Ozarks in all its splendor.
