Camping In Campgrounds

Picture
Buffalo National River has 14 designated campgrounds with varying degrees of development Campgrounds with group campsites are available by reservation. All other sites are available on a first-come first-served basis only.

Campground use follows river use:

Seasons dictate the floatable sections of the river as well as campground availability. Over spring weekends, during peak floating season in the upper river, Kyles Landing and Steel Creek Campgrounds can be extremely crowded. Ozark Campground is popular throughout the spring and summer. With the except of Erbie, campgrounds in the upper river are filled to capacity over Memorial Day weekend.

Tyler Bend fills only during Memorial Day weekend and July 4th weekend. Campground use at Tyler Bend is light the rest of the year.

Buffalo Point can fill during any weekend between Memorial Day and mid-August. It is the most crowded campground in the summertime.

The following guidelines will make your campground experience more enjoyable:

Quiet hours in campgrounds are between 10 P.M. and 6 A.M. Generators may be operated from 8 A.M. to 8 P.M. only.

Although dead and down wood may be gathered for firewood in the park, we highly recommend bringing your own pre-split wood from home. High use areas such as campgrounds have been picked over.

To avoid insect and rodent problems, do not release waste water onto the ground. Gray water may be dumped into restroom toilets.

Camping fees are now charged at most of the campgrounds.
