A Visit To Misty Creek

In late April, my friend Juergen Lottmann asked me if I would like to stay at his new vacation rental, Misty Creek. Juergen and Liz Lottmann also operate Misty Bluff. Of course I jumped at the opportunity and on Saturday I drove over to the Vendor area where Misty Creek is located. This cabin sits on the north fork of Big Creek, which is a tributary of the Buffalo National River and has a wonderful view of Red Rock.

Master Bedroom
Misty Creek is a three bedroom home, with the sleeping quarters on the second floor and the main living area on the lower floor which feeds directly onto the outdoor patio. I really liked the layout of the cabin and immediately got my stuff out of the Blazer and into the master bedroom. This bedroom features a king size bed and a very open design, which allows the outside inside!

Upstairs Bathroom
The upstairs boasts two other bedrooms, one with two queen sized beds and a third with a single queen bed. The room with two queen beds also has a large screen tv setup and nice, large windows. The upstairs also features a full bathroom with a large jacuzzi tub! Just right for relaxing after a hard day of enjoying the Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas.

I spent the late afternoon exploring the creek and just sitting on the patio enjoying the fine spring weather. It was around 70 or so in the sun, with not much of a breeze. Once the sun went behind the mountains it cooled off quickly and I decided to go make some supper and then watch a movie before heading to bed. Juergen is a fine cook and the kitchen at Misty Creek reflects his skill level. There is every kind of pot, pan, utensil, kitchen gizmo that you might need, including a pizza oven! I had been forewarned about the oven and had brought along some pizza fixin's and a store bought crust. In no time at all I had myself a large, regular crust pizza with pepperoni, sausage, onions and triple cheese. I made two of them, because I knew I had friends coming by tomorrow, and I figured it would make good snack food.

I ate my pizza at the dining table then moved into the great room and watched a movie on the big screen HDTV. I am not sure what time I went upstairs to bed, but I can tell you I slept like a baby, with the window open and the sound of the night air gently moving through the bedroom.

Sam's Throne is near Misty Creek and late last summer a friend of mine and I visited there and just wandered around a bit. It is not a hard hike and has some really nice views.

Looking Out Over The Valley At Sam's Throne
On Sunday morning I got everything all cleaned up and then sat outside and waited for Juergen to stop by. He was going to be building a retaining wall behind the cabin and wanted to do a little prep work that afternoon. Once he showed up we tried out his practice golf area at Misty Creek. The hitting area is about 180 yards long, with water on the left side. It was fun trying to hit the green area. After hitting, we had to go out and find our balls, which was harder than I thought. I found one in the creek, but lost two others. The yard was well cut and there was a very nice fire ring with chairs around it, below the cabin.

Misty Creek is a great place for a family vacation. The kids will love exploring and swimming in the creek and the adults will enjoy all the fine amenities that Misty Creek offers. Access to the Buffalo National River and several other nifty hiking area's including Sam's Throne, is nearby so you won't waste hours in driving time. Those of you who golf should at least bring along a few irons and some range balls. Misty Creek offers the very finest in accommodations and you should give Juergen or Liz a call and book a reservation for this summer. I guarantee you and the family will enjoy it!
